No road car is as capable than a homologation special, and the 250 LM is that car. It was homologated to replace the GTO in 1963 and to compete in the prototype class for the Le Mans 24 Hour. When it debuted that same year at the Paris automobile show, it won the overall championship which increased its value tenfold. It was driven by members of the North American Racing Team, such as Ed Hugus, Masten Gregory and Jochen Rindt.

The Ferrari 290 MM was originally used as bait to attract the interest of Juan Manuel Fangio to be the race car driver for Ferrari in the 1956 World Sportscar Championship. Fangio desired a vehicle with good power and handling and this was granted to him with the car’s 3.5 liter putting out 320 horsepower. The 290 MM won the championship in two consecutive years. This car also took part in the Mille Miglia of that same year with the full Ferrari roster for that year.
