There's no question that fast food rules the American diet. The U.S. is home to more than 50,000 chain restaurants -- including more than 25,000 Subways, 14,000 McDonald's and 6,000-plus Taco Bells and Burger Kings. It may sound like a lot for a country with only 325 million residents, but many Americans rely on these quick-service restaurants to provide a surprisingly high percentage of their weekly food intake.
A 2013 report by the Centers for Disease Control found that 11 percent of calories consumed by the average adult come from fast food. A similar 2015 CDC report revealed that one out of every three people under the age of 20 consumes fast food on any given day.ÂÂ
It's no surprise then, that chicken nuggets and burgers from these chains have become such a huge part of our culture. In fact, many of them are so popular that you can tell one menu item from another even without any branding. Think you can name common fast food items without their wrappers? Take our quiz to find out!
