About This Quiz
Jewelry can be made from just about any material out there. There are earrings made of enamel, gold, silver, gems, etc. But did you know that prehistoric jewelry was made from shells, bones and stone? Back then, it is likely that these types of adornments were worn for protection or to show rank, rather than style, but some of the methods have evolved and carried on to this day.
Jewelry is one of those things that is still used to show status. Most people can tell the difference between real diamonds and, let's say, cubic zirconia. Then, of course, there is the size of diamonds. The bigger the better. This is one area where size does matter. The bigger the diamond, the more expensive.
Jewelry is also used to show how you feel about someone. Engagement rings are the most common form of this. When you're ready to settle down with someone, a piece of jewelry is given as a token of that love and commitment. This tradition originated from a pretty misogynistic ideal, but in Roman times, women would wear rings with keys attached to them to signify the husband's ownership of that woman. The good news is that now we only do it because we like pretty things and Pinterest. Think we can guess what jewelry style you like the most? Take this quiz!
