The King James version of the Bible is the translation used by the majority of people in the United States who read the Bible. In fact, half of all US Christians use this version. The King James Bible was commissioned in 1604 by King James I and includes a total of 80 books: 39 Old Testament books, the 14 books of the Apocrypha, and 27 New Testament books.Â
The King James version took 47 scholars seven years to complete, with books being translated from the original Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, and Latin. The King James version, however, was not the first English translation of the book. The first translation was commissioned by King Henry VIII in 1535 with the instructions that the resulting version should support the mission of the newly launched Church of England.
So, if you remember popular verses like "give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is thee kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen" then this quiz is for you.
