About This Quiz
Since the invention of the automobile, people have got into them and wanted to race!ÂÂ
In the United States, the earliest ever record race was Chicago Times-Herald race, held in 1895. Just six cars were featured. The race offered a prize of $5,000 which in today's money is around $150,000! It was a princely sum at the time, that is for sure. The race was won by Frank Duryea's Motorized Wagon, which completed the 54 miles in a little over 7 hours. Ricky Bobby sure would not be impressed at those speeds.
But that was the start of it all! And the rest, as they say, is history.
The most famous race in America is certainly the Indy 500, first held in 1911, the both the Indy Car Series and NASCAR have huge followings in the States but perhaps not worldwide. Overseas, Formula One is king and it is recognized as the pinnacle of motorsport on the planet. These cars are simply technological marvels!
But that is just the tip of the iceberg. So many other forms of racing exist including endurance racing, rallying, open-cockpit racing and much more.
But would you be able to identify the racing series by just looking at a picture of the vehicle? It's not that simple! Take your time and good luck!
