"Dragon Ball Z" is a Japanese anime television series that was produced by Toei Animation and aired from 1989 to 1996. The series is the sequel to the "Dragon Ball" anime series, all of which were based on Akira Toriyama's "Dragon Ball" manga series. The series was so successful that it spawned many sequel series, dozens of movies and over 100 video games. 

Picking up five years after the events of the first series, this one followed the adventures of Goku both as a warrior and a young new father to Gohan. He was still seen defending the Earth from different villains and creatures, this time with a bit more help. It also followed the lives of other characters and how their roles affected the world as they knew it.

Many of these characters were not from planet Earth and as such, had many different special abilities, some of which made them very powerful.
