About This Quiz
Since the motor car was invented, man has wanted to race them.ÂÂ
In fact, the first race ever held was in Connecticut in 1899.ÂÂ
The first race at the Indianapolis Speedway was run in 1911. And it has been ever since, except from 1942 to 1945 where World War II stopped any chance of the Indy 500 occurring.ÂÂ
"The Brickyard" as the track is affectionately known is a world racing institution. Of that, there is no doubt. And yes, the track surface was originally made from bricks. It was resurfaced in the early '50s and only then a small portion of the original bricks remained.
As Indy has some incredible history, it has also seen some of the greatest races and racing drivers ever to hold a steering wheel. And not only Americans. Drivers have come from all over the world to try their hand at winning the 500. Some have succeeded, including those from Formula One, and some have failed.ÂÂ
But would you be able to identify some of the winners that have graced Victory Lane at the Indy 500 and tasted the sweet milk after their victory?
A single image is all you will have to identify them. Some are easy, and of course, those from a time long gone will test you.
Good luck!
