While humans were born on land and took to traveling on water tens of thousands of years ago, traversing the skies has only really successfully been accomplished over the past few decades. In modern times, our ability to have aircraft (moth manned aircraft and unmanned aircraft), that can easily soar through the skies, has benefited many aspects of society; from transportation and research, to emergency services and the military. This quiz focuses on the metal mechanical marvels that are flown by military forces from all around the world!
Both of the world wars actually led to several notable advancements in aviation; with World War I being the first major conflict to involve large scale use of aircraft and World War II involving widespread use of strategic bombing. Historically, while most people remember the iconic fighter jets from these wars, several other types of aircraft were also utilized; such as balloons for observation in World War I and the American Civil War and gliders for landing troops in World War II. However, nowadays many of these historical type of aircraft are no longer used by the military, with surveillance planes largely taking over from balloons and helicopters replacing the use of gliders. So strap in for this dogfight of a quiz and lets see what you've got flyboy!
