About This Quiz
What we consider "Ancient Egypt" had a very long run from around 3100 B.C. to about 30 B.C., when Egypt fell to the Roman Empire, though it had its fair share of invaders prior to that. At the end of the day, though, what fascinates many of us about Egypt is not the politics of who controlled what and when, but how their society was so vastly different than ours. The Egyptians built the Sphinx and the pyramids, long considered marvels of engineering and feats so impossible for pre-industrialized people that some believe aliens must have had a hand in the construction. They created amazing art from pure gold and adorned themselves with fantastic headdresses and costumes. Ancient Egyptians created an incredible and complex pantheon of deities and devised a written language so incredibly different from our own that, thousands of years later, it's still fun to learn about it.
Even though Egyptian symbols and hieroglyphics changed over time and were eventually replaced altogether, they're fascinating to us for how they represent ideas. A single symbol can mean a physical thing or just a sound, and it can change in different contexts. Hieroglyphics are like people in a lot of ways, always changing and conveying different feelings. If you want to know which hieroglyph best matches who you are, you should take the quiz and see!
